William (Bill) Owen Beatty Obituary

It is with sadness that the family of William (Bill) Owen Beatty announces his
passing on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 87 years of age in Clovis, CA. Bill was
born on August 16, 1936 in Shelbyville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his
parents, William Forrest Beatty and Kathryn Shoemaker Beatty, of Decatur, IL and
his beloved wife of 41 years, Catherine Marie Beatty.
Over his lifetime, Bill was known for his lovely tenor voice, participating in church
choirs in Illinois and California, his humor, as well as his love and dedication to his
family. He enjoyed outdoor activities including camping, backpacking, fly fishing,
hiking, RVing, boating, and spending time at his Shaver Lake cabin.

Bill's degree in Agricultural Science from Iowa State University stood him in good
stead for both the family hybrid seed and farming businesses in Illinois and in his
career as a Soil Conservationist with the US Dept of Agriculture in Northern and
Central California.

Bill is survived by his sister Judith Beatty Dees (Dan) of Springfield, IL, two
daughters, Sara Beatty (Bram Morrison) of Toronto, Martha Beatty Eyman of
Dorset, VT, and stepson Michael Coles (Cindra) of Clovis, CA. He is also survived by
seven grandchildren who include Peter Voss (Jo), Joel Voss, Julia Broulidakis
(Matthew), Isabelle Eyman, Caroline Eyman-Cooper (Peter), Tori Ross (Ian), Alyssa
Coles, four great-grandchildren, Parker Voss, Madison Voss, Adrian Broulidakis,
and Mia Eyman-Cooper, and several nieces and nephews.
