Theodore Andrew
Haynish
April 10, 1936 — March 23, 2025
Theodore Andrew Haynish, (known fondly as Ted) was born April 10, 1936, and passed away on March 23, 2025, at the age of 88. As a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather he left a legacy behind.
Ted grew up in West Islip NY, surrounded by a large extended family. After graduating from Clarkson University in Potsdam he was recruited to California for the next phase of his life. Ted dedicated 46 and a half years of his life to CALTRANS as a civil engineer, shaping the infrastructure of California with diligence and pride.
Outside of his work life, Ted found joy in simple pleasures. He was a skilled horseshoe and pétanque player, earning numerous California State horseshoe awards. His love for gardening produced a bounty of tomatoes that his family looked forward to every year. Ted also enjoyed fishing with his sons. In recent years as a lifelong learner, he developed a knack for brewing the perfect batch of kombucha.
Ted is survived by his wife, Alameda Haynish; his children and their loving spouses, Katherine Corson (Galen Corson), Teddy Haynish (Jackie Haynish), Janet Webb (Don Webb), Liza Carver (Mel Carver), Ellie Olson (Matt Olson), Patricia Duran (Russell Duran) and Christopher Haynish; his grandchildren, Jade Hoff, Tawne Haynish, Tiger Haynish, Megan Duran, Ryan Duran, Kyle Carver, Anna Carver, and Luke Olson; and his 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judith Krebs (Michael Krebs), and the mother of his eight children, Eleanor J. Marek.
Ted's humor and storytelling brought amusement to all who crossed paths with him. The countless memories he created will never be forgotten.
