Susie Yang OdenOctober 30, 1990 – September 30, 2026
Susie Yang Oden, 35, was born on October 30, 1990, in Fresno, California, to Chou Yang and Yia Lee. Susie returned to her parents’ home in Fresno, where she passed away from cancer on September 30, 2026, surrounded by her family.
One of twelve children, Susie came from a large, close family and shared a special bond with her siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Susie met her husband, Philip, while they were both working at Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital. What began in Fresno grew into more than ten years together, a marriage, and a life filled with experiences and adventures.
She later moved to Oklahoma, where she built a career at Tinker Air Force Base. For more than eight years, Susie worked as a sheet metal mechanic on the KC-135, a career she took pride in and that became an important part of the life she built in Oklahoma.
Susie was adventurous, generous, caring, and full of life. She loved to laugh, travel, try new foods, hike, rock climb, ride roller coasters, and experience new things.
Together, she and her husband traveled throughout almost all of the United States and to many different countries, experiencing new places, cultures, foods, and adventures along the way. Their love of roller coasters also took them to around 15 different Six Flags parks across the country.
Susie was an amazing cook, and cooking was one of the ways she cared for people. She loved bringing people together through food, and no one could make a burrito quite like Susie.
She had a naturally giving heart and thought about others even while facing her own struggles.
She leaves behind her husband, Philip Oden; her parents, Chou Yang and Yia Lee; her in-laws, Jim and My Oden; her brothers and sisters; her many nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.
Susie packed an extraordinary amount of life into just 35 years. She explored the world, built a career she was proud of, shared countless meals, took chances, went on adventures, and created memories that will continue to be told for years to come.
