Michael Allen Shenk, 78, of Fresno, California, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026.
Michael was born on November 3, 1947, in Bend, Oregon, to Vernon and Edna Shenk. He cherished his memories growing up in Oregon; it remained close to his heart throughout his life. He loved to tell of disappearing into the Oregon woods for days at a time to enjoy fishing and hunting, just to reemerge in time for supper. He later served his country in the United States Navy as a corpsman during Vietnam, assigned to the USS Sumter. Following his military service, he made his home in Fresno, California, building a successful career as an account manager in the manufacturing industry. Living in Fresno, he developed a love for hiking in Yosemite, and was proud to share that he hiked Half Dome 12 times.
Michael shared 45 wonderful years of marriage with Vivian. As a devoted Christian, his faith directed his life. He cherished his family and treasured the time he spent with those he loved. Michael was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment to providing for his family.
Preceding Michael in passing were his beloved wife, Vivian; his parents, Vernon and Edna; his daughter, Michelle; and his siblings, Courtland, Mildred, and James.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Sarah), Gabriel (Autumn), and Crystal (Joshua); his cherished grandchildren, Zachary (Kathy), Megan (Jordan), Tyler, Eliza (Clark), Sadie, Peter (Katherine), Emily (Curtis), Nathan, Wade, Wesley, Annabelle, Jack, Ava, Bonnie, Serenity, Matthias, Philip, (Swan, and Louis); and his great-granddaughter, Isla.
Family and friends are invited to attend a brief graveside service on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., at Clovis Cemetery District, followed by a Celebration of Life at The Woods (clubhouse), where friends and loved ones will gather to honor Michael, share memories, and celebrate the life of a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed.
Michael will always be with us. His love, faith, and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
May his memory be a blessing.
