Marietta Loretta Waite

Marietta Loretta Waite passed away on October 1, 2026. She was born on April 5, 1941, in Tyrone, Oklahoma, the oldest child of Dexter Carl Ogan and Loretta Ogan.

Marietta met Dennis Waite when she was 13, and they began dating when she was 15. They married in 1958, and Marietta adored Dennis; he was the center of her life. Dennis and Marietta shared 67 years of marriage. They built a close family and a warm home. Marietta devoted herself to raising her family and creating a warm, welcoming home where people felt cared for and at ease. She loved bringing everyone together, especially during the holidays. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she made family gatherings special with her decorating and the care she put into welcoming everyone. Marietta was known for entertaining in the backyard, especially through her summertime barbecues. The family spent many treasured days at Pismo Beach with their dune buggies and camping together at Shaver Lake. Cooking, knitting, and decorating were among the many things she enjoyed. After they retired, Dennis and Marietta traveled throughout the United States in their fifth wheel and also enjoyed their trips to Hawaii and the British Isles.

Marietta will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the way she made family and friends feel at home. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She adored her grandchildren, was the best grandma on earth, and cherished every moment she spent with them.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Denise Marie Waite, who died in 1964; her grandson, Jacob Dortch-Lopez, who died in 2025; and her nephew, Dexter Carl Ogan III.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Waite; her daughters, Cyncia Hodges, Lisa Atteberry, and Shawnda Lopez; her siblings, D.C. Ogan Jr., Deborah Ogan, Nathan Ogan, and Matthew Ogan; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Clovis Funeral Chapel, 1302 Clovis Avenue, Clovis, California 93612. The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Community Church, 4620 East Nees Avenue, Clovis, California 93611.
