Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Nino. She passed away peacefully on January 25, 2024, surrounded by family at the age of 96.

Maria (Garza) Nino was born on August 23, 1927, in Pidas Negres, Mexico. She moved to Texas as an infant with her parents and five siblings, Philip Garza, Olivia Ramirez, Lily Cortinas, Minnie Medina, and Ruben Garza. She met her husband, Eutimio Nino, at age 17, in Westlaco, Texas. They were married on October 7, 1944, and celebrated 65 years of marriage before he passed away in 2010. They had 5 children, Leo Nino (who proceeded her in death), Terri Martinez, Rosie Gonzales, Maria Balli, and Mary Fimbrez.  They settled in Madera in 1956, where they raised all their children.

Maria Nino was a loving wife, mother, sister, Tia, and grandmother. She had 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Ruben Garza, her children Terri, Rosie, Mary and Maria, plus many other loving family members.

She enjoyed gardening and was known for growing beautiful roses in her yard. She found happiness in spending time with family, friends and going to the casino.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, brother, and her son.

On Thursday, February 1, 2024, there will be a Rosary at All Faith Funeral Home in Madera at 6pm. The mass will be on Friday, February 2, 2024, at St. Joachim's Catholic Church at 1pm. A reception will follow.  Arrangements are under the care of Clovis Funeral Chapel.
