In Loving Memory of Karen Blankenship Stone
Karen was born on August 1, 1943, in Halstead, Kansas, to Alfred Hultner Blankenship and Ruby Rosetta Blankenship. She passed away peacefully at her home on August 16, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of those who meant so much to her.
Karen is survived by her brother, Michael Blankenship; her two sons, David Bradley Stone, his wife Dawn and Daniel Michael Stone; her grandchildren, Justin, Corey, Christina, Brittany, and Brianna; and her nine great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride.
Karen graduated from McLane High School with the Class of 1961. She began her professional career with Pacific Telephone, where she worked as a Business Services Center Manager in both Fresno and San Francisco. When the company became AT&T, Karen continued her career before eventually returning to Fresno and embarking on a new chapter in the construction industry. She worked her way into a leadership role and ultimately retired as Vice President of Richard Hedman Construction.
Karen and her parents shared a love of bowling and were regulars at Cedar Lanes, where she was an active member of the Women’s Bowling League. She also served with NAWIC, the National Association of Women in Construction, reflecting her dedication to both her profession and the women within it.
Outside of work, Karen found joy in countless creative pursuits. She loved sewing, knitting, needlepoint, cross-stitch, ceramics, home decorating, and remodeling. She had a natural talent for creating beautiful and welcoming spaces and took great pride in making a house feel like a home.
But what her family will cherish most was the love Karen so freely gave to everyone she knew. She had a remarkable way of making people feel special, and she loved so deeply that each of us is certain we were her favorite. Her heart extended beyond her family and friends to the many beloved pets she welcomed into her life throughout the years.
Karen brought warmth, laughter, kindness, and joy to every encounter. To those who knew and loved her, she was a beautiful example of God’s agape love—selfless, unconditional, and freely given.
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
We thank you, Mom, for the love you gave so generously and for the beautiful memories you leave behind. Most of all, we thank God for the precious gift of your life and for allowing us the privilege of loving you and being loved by you.
You will forever remain in our hearts.
