Obituary

In Loving Memory of Jose “Joe” Palacios

Joe Palacios, 76, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Joe was born in El Paso, Texas, in 1950. At the age of eight, he moved to Fresno, California, where he was raised and built the life he cherished. He graduated from Clovis High School in 1968 & was on the varsity basketball team where he won the 1st NYL Valley Championship his senior year. After graduating, he began his career working at Clovis Auto Parts while also landscaping on the side for many years. In 1985, he married Janice Chatman-Palacios, the mother of his daughters.

In 1975, Joe began working for Red Star, which later became Aramark. In 1997, he continued his career with Mission Linen where he worked until his retirement in 2009, after 35 years of dedicated service. During his years with the linen company, one of his greatest joys was playing catcher in softball & fast-pitch baseball with his coworkers, creating friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime.

While Joe worked hard throughout his life, his greatest accomplishment was his family. He lived his life for his children and grandchildren, always putting them first and finding his greatest joy in the time they spent together. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, and an incredibly proud grandfather. His love for his family was the foundation of everything he did.

Joe faced significant health challenges that began 13 years ago, meeting each one with remarkable strength, determination, and resilience. Although this past year brought many difficult days, he continued to fight with courage, surrounded by the unwavering love and support of his family. Their presence gave him comfort and strength, and together they cherished every moment they had.

He was known for his larger-than-life personality. Joe was funny, quick-witted, a true jokester, and a master storyteller whose stories could captivate anyone in the room. His generous heart and infectious sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Joe was a loyal fan of the 49ers, the San Francisco Giants & the Golden State Warriors. He rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on. He loved working outside in his yard and creating memories with the people he loved most. One of his favorite traditions was taking his family out to eat at “Big 7” and Carrillo’s, where countless laughs and conversations were shared around the table. Getting together with friends, enjoying a few drinks, sharing some stories, laughing and having a good time were some of his favorite past times.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Janice Palacios; his daughters, Josielyn Palacios and Chrystal Palacios; his son, Anthony Palacios, and daughter-in-law, Alma Palacios; daughter Denise Palacios and his treasured grandchildren, Joshua Upton, Leahlyn Hutton, Loklyn Hutton, Alysandra Palacios, and Alijah Palacios. He is also survived by his siblings, Angie Guzman, Rick Amparan, Francis Garcia, Jackie Amparan, and Sylvia Montano.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Juanita Gonzales. We find comfort in knowing they have been reunited in heaven.

As we say goodbye, we remember a man whose love for his family knew no bounds, whose laughter filled every room, and whose stories will be shared for generations to come. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that his love lives on in each of us. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
