In Loving Remembrance of
Jorge Alvarez Merin
Jorge Alvarez Merin
, age 53, passed away on Monday, March 9th, 2026.
He was born on April 23rd, 1972, in Sayula, Jalisco, Mexico, to Maria Alvarez Merin and Felipe Alvarez Chavez.
Jorge spent his childhood in Sayula, where he learned to work alongside his father in the mountains. He learned to hunt and developed a deep love for nature that stayed with him throughout his life. Jorge and his siblings shared many responsibilities at home. His father took them to church every Sunday, and Jorge also learned about God's Word from his grandmother, Maria, a devoted Jehovah's Witness.
At the age of 17, Jorge moved to the United States with hopes of helping his family. He first lived in Reedley, California, and later moved to Fowler, California, where he learned auto body repair and painting—skills that became his career for more than 30 years. He eventually made his permanent home in Sanger, California, drawn by its closeness to the river and mountains he loved so much.
Jorge appreciated every detail of nature. He often paused to thank Jehovah God through prayer, especially when surrounded by the mountains he cherished. He was known by his family and friends as kind, loving, unselfish, hardworking, and full of humor. He loved telling stories from his life, sharing sayings from his father, and preparing BBQs that everyone looked forward to. He also enjoyed sharing what he learned from his Bible studies lovingly provided by Juventino and Connie Medina, which helped him look forward to the promised future earthly paradise.
In 2016, Jorge took his Bible study seriously and began attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Sanger, California. As his cancer progressed, he continued attending faithfully through Zoom.
Jorge passed away surrounded by the love of his family.
He is survived by his wife and companion of 20 years, Rebecca (Becky), and his three children:
Jesus Heriberto Gomez Gonzalez (Eddie),
George Alvarez Gonzalez (Coky),
and Nereyda Denise Alvarez Gonzalez (Chispita);
as well as three grandchildren.
He is also survived by his mother, Maria Alvarez Merin, and his siblings:
Martin Alvarez Merin,
Maria Leticia Alvarez Merin,
and Hilda Maria Alvarez Merin.
He is preceded in death by his loving father, Felipe Alvarez Chavez, and his two sisters, Maria Teresa Alvarez Merin and Maria Guadalupe Alvarez Merin.
Jorge leaves behind memories that will be cherished and remembered with loving smiles.

En Memoria Cariñosa de
Jorge Alvarez Merin
Jesus Heriberto Gomez Gonzalez (Eddie),
George Alvarez Gonzalez (Coky),
y Nereyda Denise Alvarez Gonzalez (Chispita);
