John Emil
Nauheimer, Jr.
August 20, 1948 — July 28, 2026
Clovis
John Emil Nauheimer
August 20, 1948 – July 28, 2026
John Nauheimer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated public servant, passed away on July 28, 2026, at the age of 77. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and love that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Born in the Bronx, New York, on August 20, 1948, to John Emil and Eileen Nauheimer, John moved to California in 1966, where he graduated from San Pedro High School. He answered the call to serve his country in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971, stationed in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Upon returning home, John found his true calling in law enforcement. After completing the Los Angeles County Police Academy, he began his career with the Monterey Park Police Department in 1972, where his dedication earned him Officer of the Year honors in 1978. In 1979, he moved his family to Clovis and joined the Clovis Police Department, where he would serve with distinction for twenty-five years. He was named Clovis Officer of the Year in 1984, promoted to Sergeant in 1985, and retired in 2004. Even retirement couldn’t keep him from the department he loved — he returned as Fleet Coordinator, earning Part-Time Employee of the Year honors in both 2009 and 2013.
John took his oath seriously. To him, wearing the badge was never just a job — it was a promise to his community, and he kept that promise every day of his career. He believed deeply in making a difference for others, a conviction he carried into his support of the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
But for all his professional accomplishments, those who knew John best will remember the man at home. He met his beloved wife, Linda, at the Manhattan coffee shop — he came in for a cup of coffee and left with the beginning of a lifelong love story. Together they built a home defined by security, happiness, and partnership. He was everything to his family: provider, protector, teacher, and the heart of every gathering. He never asked for help and never needed to be asked to give it — if someone was struggling, he would give them the shirt off his back.
John was the biggest and best host anyone could ask for. He loved nothing more than gathering the people he loved around good food, whether it was manning the grill at his famous Fourth of July barbecues, decking out the house for Candy Cane Lane at Christmas, or turning any get-together into a tailgate. His barbecue was legendary, his sense of humor was unmatched, and his door was always open. When he wasn’t cooking, he could often be found antiquing, hunting for treasures with the same patience and eye for detail that served him throughout his career.
Sustained by his faith in God, John lived his values quietly and consistently: hard work, dedication, and loyalty to the people and community he loved. Those who knew him describe him simply — a hard worker, dedicated and trustworthy — and there is no truer summary of the man.
John is survived by his loving wife, Linda Nauheimer; his brother, Robert Nauheimer; his sisters, Sue Green and Sherri Parker (Bret); his sons, Allen Nauheimer, Curtis Nauheimer (Jeanette), and Ryan Nauheimer (Channa); his stepson, Asher Anderson (Kaelin); his stepdaughters, Shea Lieder (Eric) and Abre Kendrick (Kyn); 18 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He hoped to be remembered for his hard work and dedication. He will be remembered for so much more — as a protector, a giver, a man of his word, and the heart of his family.
