Obituary

Jim was born on September 10, 1946 in Los Angeles, California. Jim went to Catholic school for 12 years. At one time he was an alter boy, which he did not care to do. He spent most of his time at Venice Beach learning how to surf, and became very good at it. He moved to Fresno and worked at several jobs before landing a job at PG&E, which he loved. He worked there for 32 years until he retired. He loved to read, go fishing, bungee jumping and river rafting. Jim was a good man, willing to help anyone.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Mary Gillespie of Friant, his step-son, Derrick Thompson of Friant, 4 grandchildren, Brody Thompson of Clovis, Laney Garcia of Clovis, Skyler Thompson of Fresno and Roxy Thompson of Clovis. He also leaves behind his nephews, Chris and Danny and his niece, Katie.

He was preceded in death by his mom, Wilburta C. Orris, dad Colonel James J. Gillespie, sister, Patsy and brothers, Tim and Terry.
