Harold Leonard
O'Neal
October 9, 1948 — December 9, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Hal O'Neal, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Hal left this world peacefully, but far too soon for those whose lives were forever shaped by his bold presence and unmatched spirit.
Hal was a man of strength, humor, and unmistakable personality. He was not a quiet man—he lived out loud, loved fiercely, and spoke his mind with honesty and conviction. His larger-than-life presence filled every room he entered. He had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and supported, and he never hesitated to defend or uplift the people he loved. His laughter, his stories, and his unwavering loyalty created memories that will remain etched in the hearts of his family forever.
As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Hal's pride and affection ran deep. He celebrated every milestone, encouraged every dream, and left each generation with a sense of strength and belonging. His influence continues through the lives he touched and the values he instilled.
Hal O'Neal was preceded in death by his wife Nagene O'Neal, his parents, Vera and Harold O'Neal; his sister, Joyce McCaskill; his beloved granddaughter, Victoria McCleland; and his niece, Julie Jensen.
He is survived by his children: Janet O'Neal; Charles Wages and his wife, Marianne; Cheryl McCleland-Lewis and her husband, Robert; and Stephanie Costa and her husband, David.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kelly Freeman, Taylor Eidson, Garret Wages, Carson Wages, Christopher McCleland, Casey Steinhauer, Katie Steinhauer, and John Steinhauer; and his great-grandchildren: Millicent Wages, Stetson Wages, Ezra Martinez, and Daniel Ramos-McCleland.
Hal is further survived by his brother, Danny O'Neal, and Danny's wife, Linda, along with their sons Jon, Alvin, and Steven, and Steven's wife, Katrina. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Gary McCaskill, and Gary's wife, Faye.
A memorial service honoring the life of Hal O'Neal will be held on January 7, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., at 2297 E. Shepherd Avenue, Fresno, California 93720. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather, remember, and celebrate the remarkable man he was.
Hal O'Neal will be forever missed, deeply loved, and remembered always.
