Glynda C.
Ward
August 18, 1922 — June 10, 2026
Sallisaw
Glynda Crossno Ward , beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, in Fresno, California, at the remarkable age of 103. She was born on August 18, 1922, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, to Charles Madison Crossno and Mary Frances Winchell Crossno.
Glynda was the youngest of ten children, with three sisters and six brothers, growing up in a large and loving family that shaped her lifelong devotion to others. Glynda lived through more than a century of extraordinary change, meeting life with quiet strength, intelligence, and enduring grace. From her early years in Oklahoma to her life in California, she built a legacy centered on family, faith, and connection. Affectionately known as "Grammie" by her grandchildren, Glynda shared a special and thoughtful bond with the younger generations. She delighted in clipping articles from the newspaper and mailing them to her grandchildren, always eager to share something interesting or meaningful. A naturally curious and intelligent woman, she enjoyed lively conversations and thoughtful discussions on a wide range of topics. While her family was filled with musical talent, Glynda herself never took up an instrument —and, as she fondly joked, she was "politely asked not to sing!" Still, her love of music was undeniable. She especially cherished dancing with her husband, Melvin, and together they were longtime members of the Dixieland Jazz Society, the Big Band Dance Society, and frequent attendees of live music events. Glynda was known for her generous heart, steadfast spirit, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome and cared for. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Crossno; her siblings; her beloved husband, Melvin L. Ward; and their infant son, Stacy Madison Ward. She is survived by her children: Tanya Ward Nelson (Marvin), Rodger Ward (June), Gary Ward (Gail), Stacy Christopher Ward (Jan), and Tracy Ward; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and extended family members who will continue to cherish her memory.
A celebration of life will be held July 7, 2026 at one o'clock, Memorial United Methodist Church at 1726 Pollasky Ave. Clovis, California.
