Fred
Barghi
February 25, 1940 — September 3, 2024
Clovis
Farahmand "Fred" Barghi was born in Tehran, Iran, on February 25, 1940, and passed away in Clovis, California, on September 3, 2024.
Fred came to the United States on January 25, 1970, and proudly referred to this date as his anniversary. Fred took pride in his career as a Civil Engineer for Kern County. Upon retirement, he opened Shooters Pool Hall in Bakersfield and later, Action Auto Center in Fresno.
Fred loved entertaining and enjoyed nothing more than a house full of friends and family, dancing, eating, laughing, and singing until the early morning hours. He was an excellent cook and a master of Persian cuisine. Fred's greatest joy came later in life with his grandbabies. As their 'Papa-jan,' he relished every moment.
He was predeceased by his father, Abootaleb Ghassemzadeh Barghi; his sister, Shahla; his brother Feridoun; and his beloved mother, Mahin Safavi.
Fred is survived by his daughter Michelle Mahoney and her husband Matt; son Adham Barghi and his wife Celina; daughter Farah Barghi; stepdaughter Kimarie Teter; sister Shida Barghi; nephews Kaz and Kevin Monazzami; great nieces Marissa and Kiana; great-nephew Konner; and grandchildren, Finn, Kate, Nadia, Briannah, and Tatiana.
Papa-jan will be missed by all who loved him.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, September 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Clovis Cemetery.
