Floanne Jones
Hunter
December 29, 1934 — August 16, 2025
Floanne Jones Hunter
Floanne, age 90, passed into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, August 16,2025.
She was born in Portales New Mexico, on December 29th 1934. The fourth of nine children born to Howard Jones and Verna Brandon Jones, she moved with her family to Fresno, California at the age of twelve. She met her lifelong girlfriends Ollie Keith, Betty Day, and Jewel Bain in the 7th grade and, along with her sisters Veta and Peggy, enjoyed roller skating, tumbling, and swimming.
In 1956 she married Burl Hunter and together they raised four daughters: Verna Clay (Gary), Dixie Trimble (Terry), Robyn Aguiar (Don), and Jill Hinthorne (Steve). In her 20s she began her career at Fresno City College, first as a switchboard operator, then various secretarial positions.
After retirement, she had time to indulge in her many creative talents such as sewing, painting, crocheting, knitting, gardening, and canning different foods which won her awards at the Fresno District Fair. In the early 2000's, she enjoyed a cruise to the Panama Canal with her husband and close friends. She was able to see Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks on a surprise trip with her daughter and, on another trip, visited her sister and brother in Missouri.
She had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and enjoyed her church where she sang alto in the choir, and occasionally taught Sunday School.
She is predeceased by her husband Burl, stepson Royce Hunter and grandson James Casey Hinthorne. She is survived by her daughters, her sister Veta Hall, her brother Coy Jones, ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Her passing has left a pain in our hearts but, because of Jesus, we know we will one day all be reunited in heaven.
Internment will be at 11:30am at Clovis Cemetery.
