Obituary

ELENITA S MOJICA

"NELING"—as she was called by her family and friends and "NANAY" to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren—passed away at the age of 78 on March 11, 2024, at 10:59AM (PST). She was born on November 17, 1945 in Nasugbu, Batangas, Philippines to her loving parents Seferino and Natalia and grew up with her 11 siblings.

She was married to Rufino G. Mojica and was blessed with four children Lenlen (deceased), Ruel (deceased), Tina, and Rey. She had 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.  Neling was a hardworking mother who started her luck working as a self-employed seller at a market in the Philippines. In 1980, she made the great sacrifice of leaving her family to work in Saudi Arabia as a caregiver/ household help for 11 years to support her children. Back in the Philippines, she became very involved in her community and in the Church. She was the president of the senior citizen community in her town and helped advocate for their rights and benefits. She was a devout and beloved member of her church, where she was part of the choir. In 2018, she and her husband moved to California, USA to live with their daughter Tina.

She loved to sing and connect with her many family members and friends, but most importantly, she loved to share what little or what bounty she had with others. Her love and generosity touched many lives.

Neling is forever loved and will be missed by all who were lucky to share in her many joys and challenges throughout life.
