Donna Lee
Marvin
May 22, 1951 — November 21, 2024
North Fork
Donna Lee Marvin, age 73, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024. Born on May 22, 1951, in Clovis, California, she was brought back home to North Fork, California, by her father Eldren Sherman and mother Francis Sherman. Donna grew up with her sister Orie Medicinebull and brother Mervin Sherman. She learned to bake, cook, and sew from her aunt Jane Visher and learned to gather from her aunt Rosalie Bethel. Her mother taught her many traditional Native ways, including basket weaving, gathering, preparing acorns, making yarn belts, and creating regalia.
Donna was always busy with gardening, cooking, and enjoying the outdoors. She loved talking to everyone and always had a good story to tell. For many years, Donna worked for the Fresno Unified School District and the Sierra Unified School District. She served as chairman for Big Sandy Rancheria and was involved in tribal housing and cultural archeology for Table Mountain Rancheria.
Donna went on to have seven children: Stephanie, Cristi, Joel, Gerald, Jeff, Nylynn, and Cyrus. She loved her 18 grandchildren: Delaine Jr, Jasmine, Desere, Hank, Shyanna, Tobie, Celicia, Michael, Mariesa, Gabe, Destiny, Cyrus, Nylan, William, Liam M., Stormy, Waverily, Lawrence and her 10 great-grandchildren: Luciano, Ysabella, Max, Brody, Rachael, Zaiden, Ruth, Adelinah, Liam B, Amayah. She loved all her nieces and nephews dearly.
She will always be in our hearts. We thank you all for joining us to honor her memory.
