Donald Honorio Dunkle, born on August 9, 1932, in San Francisco, was a dedicated serviceman and loving father. He grew up on a dairy farm and attended Gustine High School. In 1951, he enlisted in the US Air Force, where he served with distinction at Castle Air Force Base in Merced, California. Donald was part of the 90th Field Maintenance Squadron and worked on aircraft such as the B47, B29, B52 bombers, and the KC97 air re-fuelers during his time in Korea.
Donald married Rita Beatrice Menezes in 1952, and although they divorced in 1956, he remained a devoted single father. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lydia Eleanore Dunkle, his sister, Jean Jacques, children, Donna Dunkle Framstad ( Ralph). Richard Dunkle and Valerie Dunkle Rutter ( Rob), grandchildren, great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews He is preceded in death by his parents, Irene Dorothy Bothelo Dunkle and William Watkins Dunkle. Donald's life was marked by his service to his country and his commitment to his family.
Donald was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
