Derrick Ryan Thompson

With profound sadness and unwavering love, I announce the passing of my son, Derrick Ryan Thompson, who was called home to be with the Lord on July 20, 2026. Derrick was born on July 14, 1985. He attended Mickey Cox Elementary, Clark Intermediate, and Clovis High. He was like a son to his Aunt Mattie and Uncle Mike. He loved to be with them and his cousins Desiree and Rayann. He was a big brother to his cousin, Valerie. Derrick loved to watch his favorite football team, the Las Vegas Raiders. He loved listening to music. When he was younger, he would listen to his favorite bands; Sublime, My Chemical Romance, The Used, HIM, and CKY. As he got older, he would listen to a variety of music—Rock, Blues, Country, Oldies, and Rap. Derrick always had a place in his heart for the underdog and he never had a problem giving people in need his last dollar. He was a friend to all. Derrick worked for Hepner's Painting, Red Carpet Car Wash, and Allied Universal. Derrick was survived by his mother, Mary Gillespie of Friant, his children, Brody Thompson of Clovis, Laney Garcia of Clovis, Skyler Thompson of Fresno, Roxy Thompson of Clovis. He is also survived by stepchildren Jaide and Brooke of Clovis, his aunts and uncles, and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his stepdad, Jim Gillespie. Though our hearts are broken beyond words, we find comfort knowing Derrick is at peace, restored completely, and forever home with the Lord. His love, his laugh, and the memories he created will live on in all of us until we meet again.

I Love You, my Son!
