It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cheryl Wayland Risch on June 7th, 2024 at the age of 77. Born on January 8th,1947 to William and Mary Helen Wayland, Cheri was raised in Danville, Illinois along with her six siblings. Despite her mother's early death when Cheri was 7, she often spoke fondly of her active childhood and time spent at the country club swimming and playing tennis.

After graduating from the University of Illinois, Cheri moved to Goleta, California to take part in the "Jesus Movement", recently documented in the film "Jesus Revolution". There she met lifelong friends, including her husband, Forest. Inspired to raise their families in a tight-knit Christian community and function as the body of Christ, Cheri and Forest relocated to downtown Clovis along with many friends from Goleta. These friendships became an extended family for Cheri and Forest and their fellowship endured over 50 years, providing a meaningful source of joy, love and support along the way.

Cheri was passionate about intercessory prayer and saving the lives of the unborn and devoted much of her time to these efforts in her later years. She will be remembered as someone who was always looking to encourage and pray for those around her.

Cheri is survived by her husband Forest, children Daniel, David, and Joshua, grandchildren Titus, Corinth, Reagan, Callie, Phoebe, Grace, and Lily, siblings Suzanne Arnett, Nancy Link, Joanie Gillett, Debi Hosch, and Bill Wayland.

A memorial service for Cheri will be held on June 18th at 9:30am at the home of Ric and Suzie Peterson 314 Harvard Clovis, CA 93612
