Obituary

Charles Fletcher, 79, passed away on May 17, 2025, in Sanger, California. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and man of faith, Chuck lived a life marked by service, generosity, and a deep love for his family and community.

Born on May 14, 1946, in Bakersfield, California, Chuck grew up in Lemoore, California.   He graduated from Lemoore High School in 1964. He continued his education at Fresno State University, earning his degree in 1971. His early years laid the foundation for a life of dedication—both professionally and personally.

In late 1967, Chuck entered the U.S. Army and served with distinction in Vietnam as part of the 101st Airborne Division. In July 1968, he was seriously wounded in combat. After enduring multiple surgeries and a long recovery process, he was honorably retired from military service. His courage and resilience during this time were a testament to his strength of character.  He was honored with two Purple Hearts and an Army Commendation for Valor.

Following his military service, he finished his Industrial Technology degree and embarked on a diverse and impactful career. A gifted administrator with a keen mind for business and finance, he worked across several industries—including construction companies, silver and precious metal recycling firms, Christian schools, and other non-profit organizations. His professional journey culminated with a remarkable 34-year tenure as Chief Financial Officer at Lewis C. Nelson & Sons Inc., based in Selma, California.

Chuck's faith was central to his life. A strong Christian who loved Jesus deeply, he was known for his generosity and open-hearted support of numerous faith-based ministries. He found joy in giving—whether through financial support or simply offering his time and presence to those around him.

Family was the heart of Chuck's world. He shared 54 loving years of marriage with his wife, Janet. Together they raised two sons: Eric (and his wife Audra) and Michael (and his wife Shannon). Chuck took immense pride in his six grandchildren—Irelan Grace, Scarlett Rose, Preston Cross, Brighton Evangeline, Seth Michael, and Audrey Joyce—each of whom brought him great joy.

Chuck cherished the many gatherings that came with having a large family. Whether it was parties, reunions, or casual get-togethers that included friends as well as relatives, he delighted in these moments of connection and celebration.

An avid golfer throughout his life, Chuck played wherever he could—often alongside family members or close friends. The golf course was not just a place for sport but also for fellowship and laughter.

Chuck will be remembered as a good man who loved the Lord deeply and extended that love to everyone he encountered. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched—with kindness in his actions and steadfastness in his beliefs.

The Fletcher family would like to thank all the caretakers who supported Chuck and his loved ones throughout the last year of his life. Thank you to the Veteran's Hospital Primary Care Team, the staff at Elim's Place Alzheimer Home, and AseraCare Hospice for the wonderful care and understanding they provided.   In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Veteran's Hospital or Elim's Place, Sanger.
