Obituary

Brendan Joseph Bourez

Brendan was born on July 25, 1955, to David and Celia Bourez in Fresno, California. He
passed away on August 31, 2025, with his daughter at his side, after a courageous
battle with cancer. Brendan attended McLane High School in Fresno, where he met the
love of his life, Elaine. They married November 16, 1974, and were together until her
passing in June 2019. Brendan had two daughters (Toni and Brenna), who he loved and
cherished.

Brendan started working as a paperboy at 12 years old and later found his passion for
working on cars. Brendan worked on fixing cars at a gas station and then an automotive
shop in Fresno. In 1985, he started working at the Michael Cadillac dealership in
Fresno, where he was a Master Technician. Brendan could solve almost any problem a
car threw at him. He continued working until the cancer forced him to stop in 2020. In all
he spent over 40 years working on cars.

Brendan loved his family dearly and would do anything to make sure they had all they
needed. When his daughters began participating in Future Farmers of America and 4-H
raising swine (hogs) he was always there and helped them succeed. While Brendan
knew nothing about swine or agriculture, he stepped in to be the 4-H swine advisor so
Brenna could continue raising swine in 4-H, before she joined Future Farmers of
America in high school.

Brendan's favorite things were fishing at Shaver Lake in his boat and watching the
Raiders. For vacations he would take the family camping at Shaver Lake every year and
spend most of the day in the boat. Brendan would take turns bringing the rest of the
family out in the boat, so he didn't have a lot of competition. He would always have a
great fish story to tell about the one that got away. He would spend football Sunday
yelling at the TV with his daughters as if he was at the game. As he would say, Go
Raiders!!

Brendan was preceded in death by his father, David, mother, Celia, wife, Elaine,
daughter Brenna, and in-laws Tony and Mary. He is survived by his daughter Toni and
her husband Fernando; siblings Dennis, Damon, Terri, Jan, Katie, and Mark; brother in-
law Anthony and his wife Lori, sister in-law Nancy; and many cousins, nieces, and
nephews.
