Anthony Robert
De Jong
May 5, 1963 — August 25, 2026
Clovis
The family of Anthony Robert de Jong is saddened to announce that their beloved husband, father, son, brother, and loved one passed away unexpectedly on August 25, 2026. He was 63 years old.
Services will take place on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Clovis Funeral Chapel, 1302 Clovis Avenue, Clovis, California. A luncheon will follow at Andiamo in Clovis.
Anthony, whom most people knew as Tony, was born on May 5, 1963, in a community outside of London, England, where his father was stationed at RAF Brize Norton as a member of the United States Air Force. This was the first of many domestic and international places Tony would call home while growing up. His family moved as his father was transferred to Tucson, Arizona; Vacaville, California; Germany; and eventually Duluth, Minnesota, where Tony graduated from high school.
His mother, Roberta de Jong, remembers Tony’s love of the arts and his joy of traveling from a young age. During the seven years the family spent in Germany, they took numerous trips in their camper, exploring countries throughout Europe, including Austria, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Switzerland. His family’s spirit of exploration seemed to instill in Tony a lifelong love of travel that he carried with him throughout his life.
After high school, Tony ventured to Fresno, California, where he attended college before beginning his lifelong career in the drafting and construction industries. The vast majority of his later work life was spent with Span Construction and Engineering in Madera, California, where he was a longtime employee and project estimator for the global company.
Throughout his life, Tony was known for his dedication to perfection and his meticulous approach to his work. He loved technology, fixing things, traveling, history, aircraft, and trains. He especially enjoyed building and creating solutions for projects around his home. Tony was a serious and caring person who adored his family and took great pride in the things he could create, repair, and make better.
In 2018, Tony was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, which he faced with the same attention, determination, and care that characterized so much of his life.
Tony is survived by his mother, Roberta de Jong; his wife, Tracy, of Clovis; his son, Tanner; his brothers, John, also known as Jerry, and Michael (Vanessa); his nieces and nephews, Ian, Jennifer, Alexander, Ahren, and Sarah; and his beloved aunt, Monique Carlyle, and her husband, Glynn.
He was preceded in death by his father, John W. de Jong.
